With some of the UK’s leading economists now predicting that the recession has bottomed out and with the green shoots of recovery looking ever sweeter, it might not be long before high-flying executives are once more taking to the air in private jets. Corporate excesses may have been clipped, but for the most senior executives, or for those who have used their guile to take advantage of the slump in stock, there will always be a good business argument for getting to meetings on the wing.
There is perhaps no more stylish mode of flying than the amphibious aircraft or seaplane. It conjures up James Bond films of the 70s, when Bond was at his peak. And if your business meeting happens to be near water – at Canary Wharf for example – what better way to impress you waiting hosts than swooping down into a landing on the Thames in full view of the penthouse executive suite? Just be careful not to get your brogues wet.
The above model is a Cessna 206 Stationair Amphibian and is available to rent in Sweden along with other aircraft hire options. Capable of landing on water or land, the Cessna is ideal for excursion trips, sightseeing, express transports within Stockholm City and the thirty thousand islands or so in the Stockholm Archipelago. I want one!
