Our congratulations go out to British racing driver Jenson Button, who has won the Formula One world championship after a thrilling penultimate drive at the Brazilian Grand Prix. Button came from 14th on the grid to finish 4th after a series of daring passing moves, putting him beyond the reach of his nearest competitor in the driver’s championship ahead of the final race next week.

While nothing can quite match the experience of driving an F1 car in the heat of a grand prix, here at erento we have something that comes close: the F1 Driving Simulator. The very best of these is a £48,000 unit (right) fitted with the very latest PRO ST responsive steering and pedal control system currently available.

The simulator is a full-sized reproduction of an F1 car, offering players an authentic driving seat position and a strong responsive steering system. The festive season will soon be upon us! Whereas most of us will either dust off an old artificial Christmas tree dragged from the back of the cupboard, or source a real tree from the garden centre, there will be those among us who would rather rent the tree. Yes, fair readers! In this day and age, it’s possible to rent just about anything, and that stalwart of the Xmas festivities, around which gifts stack and children gather in wonder, is no exception.

In particular, Christmas tree hire is an increasingly popular option with building managers and the corporate sector more generally, as well as being an obvious choice out of season for decorative effect, e.g. as a stage prop.

September is peak season for motorhome hire. But while packing supplies for your trip, you may not have considered taking baking soda along with you. As this Top 10 list – copied from the Motorhome Fun forum – shows, baking soda is a dream ingredient for any motorhome holiday: the kitchen equivalent of an emergency flare!

The Top 10 Uses To Which Baking Soda Can Be Put In A Motorhome are …. [drum roll]:

1. Open a box and put it in your refrigerator to keep it smelling clean and if you are in a high humidity area, it will absorb moisture. When traveling, use some duct tape to seal the box until you are at your next stop.

2. Run out of toothpaste? Baking soda and water make a great paste and it also is good for the digestive system, especially if you had spicy food.

3. When you vacuum your carpets in the motorhome, sprinkle some on the carpet before you vacuum. It will help lift out the dirt and leave a great fresh smell.

4. Baking soda can be a non-scratching cleaner and will not harm your counter tops etc. Sprinkle some on a wet sponge and watch it clean without scratching.

5. Baking soda is a great ant deterrent. Place by entry points and/or in strategic places within the RV to keep these pesky critters out.

6. Make a solution of water and baking soda and then boil in your microwave oven. Now cleaning your microwave oven will be a breeze and requires no heavy scrubbing. It will also deodorize your microwave oven.

7. If you have a blocked drain you can put a solution of dissolved baking soda down the drain followed by some boiling water for a clean and “green” way to clear the drain.

8. Keep a BIG box handy in the kitchen for grease fires. Never use water on a grease fire, use baking soda to put out. Take my word on this one and don’t try it to see if it really works.

9. Travel with pets? You can cover a pet accident with baking soda and let dry, then vacuum. If you have a cat, use baking soda in the litter box to have effective odor control

10. Mix some baking soda with water and use to clean chrome surfaces. When the mix dries, just buff clean and your chrome will shine like new.
